How we check prices
Every price or policy on this site links to the page it came from and shows the date we checked it. If a shop doesn't publish a price, we show "Call — not published" instead of guessing.
Where the numbers come from
- Shop and chain websites. Store pages, service pages and published policies, such as Costco's Tire Center FAQ.
- Installer listings on tire retailers. SimpleTire and Tire Rack show a per-tire install price for each partner shop. These prices only apply when you buy through that retailer and ship to the shop. They are not quotes for tires you carry in. We label them that way in every table.
- Search-engine excerpts, only when a site blocks us. Some sites, like Tire Rack, block automated page loads. When we can only read a search engine's excerpt of the page, we say so on that row. Treat those rows as leads to confirm.
What we don't do
- We don't invent prices, shops or reviews, and we don't publish ratings.
- We don't call shops pretending to be customers. "Not published" means exactly that: we couldn't find the price in writing.
- Shops can't pay to be listed or to change their placement.
How often
Each city page shows its check date. We plan to re-check prices regularly and update the date when we do. Prices change, so always confirm the out-the-door price with the shop before you buy tires.
